Got a brand new MacBook Pro for my new work, 2.53 GHz/4G mem/500G hd. Totally different experience after being addicted to pc for so many years. But still need to figure out the replacement tools to work in Mac from text editor to IDE.

Cheers!

September Coming

Just noticed next week will be September already! A bit shock at the first stage, I still remember that I decided to come back to the working 9-5 world in late June, then the whole July and August, no good so far. September - so what? no great hope, but probably another month playing the interview games.  Anyway, need to rethink my strategy, my plans also my family. Good luck September again.

Proactive and Communication!

Proactive Proactive, Communication Communication!

In the current tight job market, seems the employers are requiring more and more from job seeks, even as a software engineer and new migrant. English is not most migrants' first language, so it will become a serious social problem that the society can't accept non-English background migrants. By writing this, I am still trying hard to improve my English anyway but not that easy to change significantly in one day.

Tough market

This year, seems the market is very different from before already. 99% employers seeking for 150% skilled employee for their requirement plus excellent local English.  This is not right for an open migrant country Australia, especially for IT industry. If the employers don't wish the employee to learn and know the new things, but just require employee to have the exact skills they want, that is no good for the future of the IT. IT is creative and innovative, IT people tend to be always like to learn and happy to learn things thing they don's know, as even you are very knowledgeable people, you will also have something you don't know.

Banker

最近忙找工作的事情焦头烂额, 刚interview完发现有一个missed call , 马上打回去, "This is Tony Su, I think I missed your call...", 对方马上说"Tony啊,我是Steven啊" , 我一听回道"啊你是Steven啊~", 双方1秒钟对峙无语, 然后对方说"我是xx银行的Steven ...

Forth Week Job Hunting

  • Good Luck!

Therefore decided to install my own wiki which is same with wikipedia, opensource, solve all the problems. Welcome to my new wiki: http://wiki.tony-su.com

Newcastle Trip

Newcastle is famous for its nice beach. It took me 3 hours' drive from Sydney. Small city, but peaceful beach, wonderful sea view. Really good for a break from the busy everyday life.

The other day, I was being asked whether or not 1st of May - Labor Day is also public holiday in Australia, I said no.  A bit confused, why "International Labor day"?, it seems not really international. As I know in Australia, the Labor Day is the first Monday of October ( http://www.industrialrelations.nsw.gov.au/holidays/).
